A PMP/PMI (Project Management Institute) certified and a PRINCE 2, MsP and P3O trained professional, Chris holds a Master Degree (Magna cum Laude) in Commercial and Financial Sciences (Marketing, Organization, Finance), HIBH/ UGent. Lately, he obtained a Director Effectiveness certificate from Guberna, the Belgian Institute of Directors. Currently, he prepares for the Board Effectiveness certificate.
He accepts assignments as Interim Manager, Operational Consultant, Consultative Trainer and Independent Director (BoD level). Interim assignments in South East Asia, South America, Central Asia, the Russian Federation and/or Iran are not excluded.
Two years ago, he finished a 9-month interim assignment as CPMO for an industrial company in Belgium, with some 10 Project Managers reporting to him for projects ranging from 300 K€ to 19 M€. Next to that, a.o. he has also contributed to the set-up of a PMO at Médecins sans Frontières and the development of a PMO in a large, multi-national law firm.
End 2017Q1, he finished, on interim basis, a one year assignment as PMO (Portfolio Management Office) Manager for BAC (Brussels Airport Center).
In a career spanning more than 30 years, he has held local and international positions in corporate and operational management, in business development, in change management and in project, program and portfolio delivery.
He has set up and managed large departments, large project sales and deliveries, project/program rescues, business turnarounds and change programs, in local and international environments.
With more than 25 years of experience, working on a worldwide basis and managing and leading multicultural teams, he has taken direct responsibility for budgets exceeding €50 millions and for groups of more than 100 staff.
He has worked in a range of sectors including: Banking and Finance; B-t-B services; Discrete and Process Manufacturing (including R&D, Factory automation, Large scale storage tanks and Dry Bulk installations…); Local and Transnational Government (EU, World bank, …); Defence (NATO, …) and Aerospace and Airport Operations; ICT and Telecommunications.
Core competencies, experience and hands-on skills are in the areas of setting up and running Project / Portfolio Management Offices in a Project, Program and Portfolio Management environment, Business Development, Resources Management and Operational effectiveness and efficiency, all in a multi-cultural, international environment.
He has extensive practical experience of training and coaching management teams and staff at all levels, all over the world.
Chris is fluent (teaching level) in English, French and Dutch and has good (passive) working knowledge in other languages such as German, Spanish and Italian.
He started off his career in the Ministry of the Prime Minister of Belgium. Subsequently, he has held senior management positions in the Belgian Banking Association, with Matra Informatique, with Logica, and within Groupe Bull/Integris.
In 2002, he has set up his first company: Proyecta bvba and has since been running a business of senior project and program management consultants, trainers and managers, on interim basis. Since then, he has been working as an independent Consultant, Coach, Trainer and/or PMO/P3O Manager for a wide range of clients including: Alcatel-Lucent, FOD Sociale Zaken, Atlas Copco, the Council of Europe and EDA and EEA, Fedict, Kronos, Delta lloyd Life, Katoen Natie, P&G, Sara Lee, Fabricom, Regie der Gebouwen, Laborelec, Geldof, Honeywell Avionics, Roularta, Millipore, JUWI, BAC, NKGB and TRIMO.
In 2010, he has created Kindermans Van Langenhove Associates BVBA, specializing in Management Consultancy, Project Reviews and Audits, Consultative Training and Managerial Interim. Lately Project Portfolio Management and Independent Directorship was added to the competency profile.
The company is a cooperation of some 15 operational, independent, international professionals.
He is EMS Professor at EHSAL / ODISEE (Ghent, Brussels) and Lecturer in Project Management Methodology at PHL (Diepenbeek), for the Master and the Post-graduate level. He was on the Brussels faculty of Boston University (till its closure end 2013) and lectures / has lectured at a number of other educational facilities including IFBD, Vlerick Management School, Solvay Management School and HEC Liége.
